ELECTION DAY!!!!!
Update:
” You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men’s initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.
—Abraham Lincoln—
Hello my fellow freedom loving Americans!! The day is finally here, election day 2008. I am in Clovis, NM helping to get out the vote (GOTV). I will be writing about updates here in NM. Please feel free to comment below about other areas of the country! Lines, problems, issues, results lets share the knowldge of what is happening at the ground level.
Amarillo Threat Letters
Chase Bank Hoax Threat Letters form Amarillo!
Federal authorities say more than 30 threat letters were sent to JP Morgan Chase banks around the country, all postmarked last Saturday, October 18, in Amarillo, Texas.
An FBI spokesperson said the letters all contained a powder substance that appears to be harmless. Additional testing is underway.
God Bless Joe the Plumber!
To those of you who watched the final Presidential debate Wednesday night you heard of a man called Joe the Plumber. Well here he is Joe Wurzelbacher from Ohio. Joe wants to pursue the American dream and own his own plumbing business. I searched the web for video clips of Obama’s conversation with Joe. The first hit was a 7 (SEVEN) minute clip of Obama’s attempt at an explanation of how his tax plan would impact Joe. By the end of the clip it is difficult to tell which end is up. Here is a shorter clip where Joe the Plumber is actually speaking to Neal Cavuto about his discussion with Obama.
And the Democrats think the average American is stupid. Joe the Plumber hit the nail on the head! (Or should I say found the leak in the pipes) “Spread the wealth around” is SOCIALISM!!!!
During the presidential debate both candidates referenced Joe and how their tax policies would impact his dreams of owning a small business.
McCain: Joe wants to buy the business that he has been in for all of these years, worked 10, 12 hours a day. And he wanted to buy the business but he looked at your [Obama's] tax plan and he saw that he was going to pay much higher taxes.
You were going to put him in a higher tax bracket which was going to increase his taxes, which was going to cause him not to be able to employ people, which Joe was trying to realize the American dream.
Now Senator Obama talks about the very, very rich. Joe, I want to tell you, I’ll not only help you buy that business that you worked your whole life for and be able — and I’ll keep your taxes low and I’ll provide available and affordable health care for you and your employees.
And I will not have — I will not stand for a tax increase on small business income. Fifty percent of small business income taxes are paid by small businesses. That’s 16 million jobs in America. And what you want to do to Joe the plumber and millions more like him is have their taxes increased and not be able to realize the American dream of owning their own business. WHY VOTE REPUBLICAN?
This is just some food for thought sent to me by a friend. . . . . . . . .
I’m voting Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
I’m voting Democrat because, when we pull out of Iraq, I trust that the bad guys will stop what they’re doing because they now think we’re good people.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that people who can’t tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years, if I don’t start driving a Prius.
I’m voting Democrat because I’m not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies, so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the government sees fit.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe three or four pointy headed, elitist liberals need to rewrite the Constitution every 20 few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe that when the terrorists don’t have to hide from us over there, they’ll come over here, and I don’t want to have any guns in the house that I might have to use to shoot them.
I’m voting Democrat because I love the fact that I can now marry whatever I want. I’ve decided to marry my horse.
I’m voting Democrat because I believe oil companies’ profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.
BBB- ($700) Billion Bailout Bill!
It is a sad day for America. This is one time in my life that I am ashamed to be from Texas. For anyone who knows me they might think that is impossible. So why do I feel betrayed by my elected leaders? The approval by the United States Senate, including Texas Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison, and John Cornyn, of the 700 BILLION dollar TAX PAYER paid bailout. The final vote, 74 to 25, passed this piece of socialist legislation to the House.
As Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., a leading conservative, said the step is “leading us into the pit of socialism.” I hate to admit that Sen DeMint is correct.
This bill started out at 3 pages and increased to 450 pages. That what government does – it adds and takes instead of working the problem.
As a Rush Limbaugh listener said, “We have a crisis of confidence in government but not in the market.”
America THIS is your opportunity to make the difference! In the House of Representative the last vote was 205 for and 228 against. Only 12 TWELVE 12! votes are needed to pass this bill through Congress. Stand up for what you believe in! Contact your congressman! Take two minutes to email them or give them a call to vote NO on the $700 Billion Bailout Bill!
This is not over as Ronald Reagan said, “We fought, we dreamed and the dream is still with us.” The possibility of a keeping this country great is still alive. America needs your help!
MORE INFO
“The additional 341 pages in the Senate version have nothing to do with the bailout per se, but instead are an energy bill and a tax bill. In short, the Senate version is the same as the failed House version, but with the addition of (1) the irrelevant FDIC provision, and (2) other unrelated legislation. And the House version was just a 110-page expansion of the Paulson’s original two-and-a-half page proposal that had lots of extra window-dressing, but little in the way of new substantive provisions that are actually mandatory, enforceable, and monitorable. This means that the Senate version of the bailout bill has the same flaws as the original Paulson bill.” – Economic Populist
